The Project
The project is a community art event based in Dunsborough Western Australia called wrappedindunsborough (WRAPPED)
It began in 2009 and ran for 10 days in October
The 2010 project ran for 6 weeks July and August
In 2011 it ran for four weeks during July

It is envisaged WRAPPED will become an annual winter event

The project brightens town during winter, puts smiles on peoples' faces, is a lot of fun to create, brings people together, and creates possitive community experiences
It challenges knitting and crochet stereotypes and fosters knitting and crochet skills
It evokes memories
It is inclusive

Each year the wraps are collected, repaired, washed, stored and re-used for WRAPPED the following year

WHAT HAPPENED IN 2011
WRAPPED 2011 went up early in July and ran until 29th 2011. It looked fabulous and again it attracted a lot of interest.  Volunteers went into Dunsborough Primary School again year and had a lot of fun teaching the little ones to knit.

WHAT HAPPENED IN 2010?
292 squares were wrapped around trees in central Dunsborough, posts at the Naturaliste Community Centre and sculptures on the foreshore.

TO EVERY KNITTER AND CROCHETER thank you for your gorgeous contributions - this project would be nothing without your creative contributions.  And THANK YOU to the people who braved the elements to wrap.....

To all the pedestrians and motorists who stopped to ask questions, take pictures or toot...... THANK YOU.....your inquisitiveness, curiosity, support and engagement is greatly appreciated.

A spin-off from WRAPPED 2010 is a project connecting community and Aged Care resident knitters with students at Dunsborough Primary School to pass knitting skills on to younger generations.

WHAT HAPPENED IN 2009?
66 wraps, one length of finger knitting and 16 pom-poms were created by a group of wonderful people ranging in age from 8 to 87. The wraps were tied to trees, posts, poles and bollards in town by a team of 'knitting taggers' on October 2nd 2009 and left up for 10 days. The response was very positive with encouragement to do it again in 2010.
