Wrapped is a short term, small scale community art event taking place in Dunsborough, Western Australia, October 2009.
The intention for this project is to make a difference in the community and become the first of annual winter wrapped happenings in Dunsborough.
A group of knitters and crocheters was gathered together in September to each knit/crochet two or three wraps of varying sizes, colours and patterns with any sized needles or crochet hooks.
66 wraps, one length of finger knitting and 16 pom-poms were created by a group of wonderful people ranging in age from 8 to 87yo. Most of the creators are local Dunsborough residents, one from Auburn, NSW and another from Leongatha, Victoria. The wraps were tied to trees, posts, poles and bollards in town by a team of 'knitting taggers' on October 2nd 2009.
We hope these cheerful, colourful, wooly wraps make people smile, curious and/or intrigued and that they will let us know via this web site.
Many thanks to Jan and Rona for their generous donations of wool, and to David for being the collection point for the wraps. |
